Very well stated. My only question now is, how? The religious right has done such a good job of making "Christian" being definable only by their standards that it seems like it will be a very difficult process to try to get it back. I feel like if I ever say "I'm a Christian" I need to follow it with so many qualifiers ("but I don't hate gay people or think that everyone is going to hell or pretend that I have the right to say what God thinks"). It's very frustrating that way.
